Dry Well

What do you do when your well runs dry?
The first thing most do is panic. Then when you realize that worrying about the problem isn’t going to fix it you start to dig in and figure out WHY the well ran dry. You look at the natural things. Has it been a dry season? Is there a mechanical problem? You do some research on how to naturally fill the well. Wait for rains to come and naturally fix the problem. Sometimes we don’t have time to wait for it to fill naturally, we have showers to take, dishes to wash, clothes to wash. If we don’t get this problem fixed life as we know it becomes uncomfortable, unmanageable.
The same thing is true when our spiritual well runs dry. We panic. We look at the reasons. Illness? Death? Loss of job? Loss of relationships? Then what? How do we refill our spiritual well? With a water supply well It’s easy to forget about our wells when everything is flowing fine. You turn the faucet on and water comes out you don’t ponder on why or how you get your water. Same with our spiritual well. When life is going along fine with no bumps and disappointment we don’t put much thought into why we are fulfilled, but when life freaks out with things beyond our control we start thinking about our well.
In both cases it takes work. Physical, mental and sometimes it takes a toll on us, but at the end of the day we need flowing waters. For health, for security, to make our every day lives easier to manage. When our wells are full remember to be thankful and do what it takes to maintain that well. Make sure when circumstances arise that drain our wells we are prepared and know what resources it takes to replenish our wells. God wants to be that source in our spiritual lives. Ask HIM and he will give you what you need to keep your well full and flowing freely. It gets dirty sometimes. Sometimes you have to go in the well and figure out what the problem is. It is a constant battle when the conditions are harsh and unrelenting. Fact is we can’t survive without water in our wells. Spiritual or the one on your back yard.
